Hey, we are Israel and Mendy.

 We’re known as the Portnoy Brothers.
We are 2 out of 9 siblings, born and raised in sunny #Manchester #UK

 As far back as we can remember, #music has always played a huge part in our lives and we consider ourselves beyond lucky that what started off as literally child’s play ended up being the path which would be our “profession” too.

 Prior to becoming a #Rabbi & #community leader, our Dad was a #musician and a #cantor. He studied in the Royal College of Music and was a gifted orchestrator and conductor.

 You could say music is in our blood and we’re lucky that it has taken us all over the world and connected us with people from every possible background.

 From playing for a small #Christian community in #Munich after they discovered us on #youtube, to playing at a #Breslov Hachnasat Sefer #Torah in Beit Shemesh to being Idan Raichel’s support act and performing on stage with Ivri Lider, we have definitely done a wide variety of work.

 We’ve recorded two full albums to date, the last of which charted on #Billboard and are currently working on “The Shabbat Album” which is our take on a variety #Shabbat #songs that we either grew up on, or have grown to #love.

 The album is being released one single at a time and features some friends who are also #jewish #musicians such as Alex Clare, #Zusha and R’ Shlomo Katz to name a few. We have lots more in store and can’t wait to share it with you.

 When not on the road, we’ve been living in #Israel in and around the #Jerusalem area for the last ten years.”
