The picture I chose embodies a great deal of what the State of Israel is for me.
The photo was taken in an isolated area in the desert, where a small military base was set up in the 1960’s.
The base served as an observation and defense point against enemy countries with which today Israel already has peace relations.
For me the desert symbolizes magical and almost impossible contrasts.
The desert has a powerful silence that cannot be explained without experience, on the other hand, it is wild and unforgiving.
It is stunning in it’s power and beauty, yet can be tedious and difficult.
The desert will put you in trouble but will know how to provide you with everything you need if you just persevere and learn.
In many ways, I see Israel as very similar to the desert and what it symbolizes, and like the desert, the State of Israel is one of a kind.
Protecting every piece of land and understanding that no one should be trusted to do it for us is the understanding that accompanies every citizen in the State of Israel and her friends around the world.
The State of Israel is a miracle, but this miracle did not happen alone.
Faith, sacrifice, determination, human values, and understanding that we have no other country are the foundation of our wonderful and unique country.
We at SUFA invite you to get to know each other closely and be part of the heritage of a people, a country, and a history!”
